Former Transport, Highways, and Media Cabinet Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena announced today (04) that he will not be contesting in the upcoming parliamentary general election.
Dr. Gunawardena, who has represented the Homagama Constituency in Parliament for over two decades, stated that he has served the people to the best of his ability in various capacities, including as a Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister, and Cabinet Minister.
Reflecting on his contributions to the Homagama Constituency, which had long lacked strong parliamentary representation, he expressed satisfaction with his efforts to transform the area into a hub of knowledge, or a “Pragna Bandu” city.
Looking ahead, Dr. Gunawardena revealed his plans to pursue another doctorate degree and to venture into filmmaking in the coming years.
