A special meeting was convened at the Police Headquarters to assess the progress of several high-profile investigations into crimes, fraud, and other contentious cases in Sri Lanka. The meeting, chaired by the newly appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security, former Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne, aimed to discuss the resumption of ongoing and stalled investigations.

Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasuriya, along with senior police officers and officials from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), were in attendance.

According to Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Talduwa, the meeting addressed a broad range of issues, including investigations that had been temporarily suspended or unnecessarily delayed.

During the meeting, the Secretary inquired whether political influence had impeded any investigations and stressed the importance of identifying the root causes of such delays.
