Former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage officially announced his retirement from politics today (16) during a media briefing.
Reflecting on the results of this year’s general election, he stated that the people of the Kandy district have indicated they no longer require his services. In light of this, Aluthgamage has made the decision to step down from political life.
“I respect the decision of the people of the Kandy district. Therefore, I have chosen to retire from politics. I sincerely thank everyone who supported me and brought me into the political arena. May the blessings of the Lord of the Tooth Relic be upon me,” he expressed.
