Wimal Weerawansa has strongly criticized the recent statement made by Dr. Harsha de Silva, who expressed satisfaction over the government’s decision to reduce the US tariff, claiming it was done in line with his previous recommendations. Weerawansa described the remark as “completely unacceptable.”

He emphasized that the government must disclose the underlying conditions attached to this tariff reduction, stating that transparency is essential for public accountability.

Furthermore, Weerawansa revealed that, according to available reports, a proposal to sign the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement has been submitted by the United States government.
