Will the court revoke state ministers’ unique privileges?

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for the fundamental rights petition filed by Chandra Jayaratne, former president of the Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce, requesting that the government issue an announcement nullifying the gazette notification issued by providing special facilities to state ministers.

This is the related case S. They were called before a three-judge panel yesterday (21) comprising of Thureiraja, Shiran Gunaratne, and Janak de Silva.

Respondents included the President, the Attorney General, the Council of Ministers, and the Sri Lanka Bar Association.

According to the suit, a state minister was given benefits and privileges such as 1500 litres of fuel per month, 4 telephone connections, 11 personal staff, and 40,000 rupees in staff expenses in the appropriate gazette notification.
