Although the name of Mr. Dharmalingam Siddharthan, representing the Tamil National Alliance, has been proposed to the Legislative Assembly, opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa stated in Parliament today that not implementing the appointment was a mistake.
The opposition leader stated that the appointment should be made as soon as the Legislative Council has 10 members, but there are only 9 at the moment, and failing to do so would set a bad precedent.
