A protest was held near the Parliament Roundabout against the Online Bill, commonly known as the Online Bill. Many people representing several social organizations participated in it. Sri Lanka Latest News

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court had issued an order regarding this protest.

The Welikada Police had informed the court that the protest was going to be held by blocking the parliament road from the Polduwa roundabout and blocking the main entrance of the parliament and blocking the road so that it was impossible to enter the parliament. The court had given the injunction based on a request made by the Welikada police station officer based on information received.

The court informed that no road should be blocked or any violence be done to obstruct the public and pedestrians using the road, and the relevant agitation should be done in a manner that violates the parliamentary privileges of public representatives and obstructs the duties of public officials on duty or does not obstruct any person. The police informed the protestors even before the protest started.

The police said that the court has also ordered that the respondents should immediately disband the protest if they cannot accept responsibility.

The police told the protestors that if this order is violated, the Sri Lanka Police must take immediate action to maintain peace.

It is special that a large number of people joined this protest even though a large police force was called and court orders were obtained.
