Despite the Ministry of Finance recommending not to increase the salaries of government employees due to the ongoing economic crisis, only the salaries and allowances of the employees of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka have been increased.Sri Lanka Latest News
Since January this year, salaries have been increased by the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe and the Finance Board.
The salary of some deputy governors of the Central Bank has been increased by 712,179 rupees. Accordingly, a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka will receive a monthly salary of Sixteen Lakhs Eighty Seven Thousand One Hundred Forty Four and Fifty Six Cents (1,687,144.56) with all allowances from the first of January this year.
Also, the salaries of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Office Task Assistant, Managerial Assistant, Senior Officer, Senior Deputy Director, Additional Director General, etc. have been doubled.
Earlier, the basic salary of a first grade employee in the post of office assistant of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka was 34,235 rupees. The monthly salary received for that position with all allowances is one lakh forty four thousand seventy six cents. But according to the new salary increase, the basic salary of the post has increased to Rs 55,805 i.e. Rs 21570. Accordingly, with all allowances, the monthly salary of an employee in that position is Rs. (183388)
The salary of Manager Assistant Grade I employees has increased by Rs 62,797 including all allowances. Their previous basic salary was 57035 rupees. With the new salary hike, they now get a monthly salary of Rs 235,035.
The salary of a first grade senior officer has increased by one hundred and eighty four thousand five hundred and sixty nine eighty cents (184569.80). The salary of Additional Director Generals has also been increased by five hundred twenty two thousand three hundred and fifty nine rupees (522,359).
Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to increase the salary of the retired employees of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka by seventy per cent. Thus, the salary of a pensioner is going to increase by 55,000 rupees.
