It is reported that the Minister of Trade, Commerce and Food Safety Mr. Naleen Fernando has issued the relevant gazette announcement.
According to the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, wheat flour has been gazetted as an essential commodity from last Friday midnight.
It is reported that the measure has been taken with the aim of controlling the rise in the price of wheat flour in the market.
Currently, the government has taken steps to make it mandatory to obtain licenses for importing wheat flour.
Accordingly, it is reported that the government has decided to declare wheat flour as an essential commodity in order to control the rise in the price of wheat flour in the market.
