The ruling party has not agreed in the parliamentary affairs committee to give the debate requested by Mr. Lakshman Kiriella, the chief organizer of the opposition, to give a one-day debate regarding the postponement of the election.

To discuss this matter, the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs met today (21) afternoon at the Parliament Complex under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

It was reported that the government had protested there.

However, yesterday Pohottu Secretary General Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam stated in the media that if the government postpones the election, Pohottu will be the first to oppose it.

Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam participated in the party leader’s meeting held today.
