Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam, secretary of Pohottuwa Party, said that the election commission has the absolute right to hold elections, not the president.
He said that if such a thing is done, his party will be the first to take to the streets.
However, during the last meeting held between the Election Commission and party general secretaries regarding the holding of the election, only Sagara Kariyawasam and UNP General Secretary Range Bandara remained silent while other secretaries protested against the government.
