The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory for heavy rains for 13 districts as the low-level atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of the island.
The department said, therefore, the prevailing showery condition is expected to continue during the next 24 hours ending at 01.00 pm tomorrow (14).
Thereby, showers or thundershowers will sometimes occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, and North-Western provinces.
Heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in these provinces, while fairly heavy rains above 75 mm can be expected elsewhere on the island.
The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
