Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam, General Secretary of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Member of Parliament, stated at a press conference held today (12) at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna party headquarters in Battaramulla that if it is possible to unite for the good of the country in a manner that does not harm the policies of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and the United National Party, we will definitely join together.

Mr. Kariyawasam said that UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe became the president with the help of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and because of that some relationship has been formed between the two parties.

Mr. Kariyawasam also mentioned that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is ready to form an alliance with any party to move forward with a series of policies for the future of the country and the youth.

Mr. Kariyawasam said that because the United National Party is one of the oldest political parties in the country, joining with such a party is also strength for that party, and said that he is ready to move forward with any party that can move forward with a policy for the future of the country and the youth.

The secretary said that if the policies of a party do not change based on the needs of the country and the people that political party will not exist and also mentioned that the oldest left wing political parties in Sri Lanka had to face it.

Mr. Sagara Kariyawasam further said that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is not in a position to not change its policies, and the United National Party is also not in such a position, and both parties have a responsibility for the good of the country.
