Water cannons were used to disperse the Socialist Youth Union’s black July protest at town hall  I Sri Lanka Latest News

To disperse a protest of the Socialist Youth Association, the police have launched a water attack near the Town Hall this evening (23). Sri Lanka Latest News

The protest was organized on the occasion of “Black July”, and the police informed that Eranga Gunaseker of the Socialist Youth Union and Bimal Ratnayake of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna could not be given permission to march.

They then marched to Lipton Roundabout and protested.

After that, suddenly the protestors were going to move towards Viharamahadevi Park from Lipton Roundabout when the police and anti-riot unit fired the water attack.

The police, riot police and army were called in to control the situation
