Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura has issued warrants and notices to the bailiffs for four suspects who failed to appear in court during the hearing of the case related to the arson attack on former President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence.

According to the Dasatha Court Reporter, lawyers submitted evidence on behalf of several suspects who were absent when the case was called.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the court that a separate group of suspects had already been released in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, a group of suspects, including J. Sri Ranga, Andrew Yvonne Perera, Raigam Bandarage Manju Wettamuni, Sherin Wickremesinghe, Dilruk Madushanka, Ashan Sandeepa, Anwar Ali, and Koralage Indika Prasad, appeared in open court.

The suspects face charges for unlawfully obstructing government employees by preventing a fire brigade vehicle from entering the premises when the former President’s residence was set ablaze on July 9, 2022.
