Global perceptions of the United States have declined for a second consecutive year and are now worse than views of Russia, according to an annual study on democracy published on Friday. The report also suggests that U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies continue to place significant strain on the NATO alliance.
The Denmark-based Alliance of Democracies Foundation, which commissioned the survey, stated that the United States was also most frequently named as the country posing the greatest threat to the world, following Russia and Israel. While the survey did not provide detailed criteria for this assessment, the Alliance says its mission is to defend and advance democratic values.
