There has been strong opposition from the United National Party (UNP) regarding the appointment of only former local government representatives from Pohottuwa to oversee development projects launched by the governor’s offices.
UNP representatives have informed the party that they should also be given the same positions.
Last week, Southern Province Governor Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena arranged positions for many former heads of local government bodies from Pohottuwa.
