As this year’s presidential election is more crucial than all the presidential elections held so far in Sri Lanka, Mr Wasantha Athukorala, Director of the Humanities and Sociology Postgraduate Studies Department of the University of Peradeniya, said that he is ready to prepare opportunities for the candidates who are expected to take over the country for the next five years to conduct a scholarly discourse on their future program. Sri Lanka Latest News

In the presidential elections of many countries in the world, this kind of scholarly political discourse is held and since Sri Lanka has never held such dialogues, this discourse can be held as a new experience for the politics of this country. The professor says.

Mr. Wasantha Athukorala points out that this can be a good opportunity to make a direct and simple presentation about the economic, social and political program of the presidential candidates to the country, and this can give a good message to the society for the presidential candidates.

He also pointed out that it would be a good step for the future of the country for a university in Sri Lanka to come forward to set up this scholarly platform for the first time, realizing the urgent need to direct the political culture of the country to a new path.
