Underworld Gang Clash Leads to Fatal Shooting in Jinthupitiya

The fatal shooting reported in the Jinthupitiya area of Colombo last night (16) was the result of a clash between two underworld gangs, according to Police Media Spokesperson, Senior Superintendent of Police F. U. Wutler.

The Police Media Spokesperson stated that three police teams have been deployed and have commenced investigations into the incident.

In addition to the fatality, a four-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl were injured in the shooting. Both children were admitted to the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital in Colombo for treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police F. U. Wutler further stated that the condition of the two children is stable and that medical teams are providing them with the necessary treatment.

Meanwhile, a 44-year-old resident of Colombo 13, who sustained critical injuries in the shooting, succumbed after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

The shooting occurred in an area known as 125 Wattha in Jinthupitiya. Initial investigations have revealed that the suspects arrived at the location in a three-wheeler, carried out the shooting, and fled the scene.
