US President Donald Trump says that highly productive discussions have been held with Iran regarding a comprehensive resolution to the Middle East conflict, and accordingly, a decision has been made not to carry out any attacks on Iranian power plants or energy facilities for a period of five days.
He made this statement in a post on the social media platform Truth Social.
President Trump’s statement reads:
“I am pleased to report that over the past two days, the United States and Iran have had very good and productive discussions on a full and complete resolution of the conflict in the Middle East.
Due to the nature of the ongoing discussions throughout this week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone all planned military strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a period of five days. This decision is contingent on the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions. Thank you for your attention! President Donald J. Trump.”
According to foreign media, as this decision was taken just before the expiration of the 48-day ultimatum issued by President Trump, a major catastrophe that could have occurred in the region has been temporarily averted.
This indicates that both sides are interested in reaching a solution through negotiations rather than conflict.
Following Trump’s statement, it is expected that the price of crude oil, which had been rising in the global market, may stabilize to some extent.
However, foreign media further point out that if the discussions held during this five-day grace period fail, there remains a risk of a renewed military situation. As a result, global attention is now focused on these diplomatic talks.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly rejected the statements made by President Trump claiming that “productive talks” are being held with Iran.
Iranian state-affiliated media report that Trump’s statements are merely an attempt to reduce rising global energy prices and to buy time for US military planning.
Citing the Iranian Foreign Ministry, the Mehr news agency reported that several “proposals” have been put forward by certain countries to reduce regional tensions.
“We are not the party that started this war. Therefore, all these demands and proposals should be directed to Washington,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
