A significant influx of local and foreign tourists has been reported in Nuwara Eliya, drawn by its enchanting cold weather during the end-of-year weekend.
According to our correspondents, the city and surrounding tourist hotspots have seen a surge in visitors on Christmas Day and the following days. Most hotels in Nuwara Eliya are fully booked, underscoring the high demand for accommodations during this festive season.
This influx has led to notable traffic congestion within the city. In response, the police have implemented a special traffic management plan to ease the situation and ensure smoother mobility for both residents and tourists.
Meanwhile, the Nuwara Eliya Tourist Police have issued a reminder for visitors to remain vigilant with their valuables, including jewelry and wallets, and to use only registered parking facilities for their vehicles.
