The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasena yesterday (08) that investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks have been accelerated.
TID officials made this statement while presenting a suspect, Mohamed Rizwan, a resident of Padukka, who was apprehended upon his return to the country after reportedly receiving training linked to terrorist organizations, including ISIS.
The officials further informed the court that the arrest of the suspect was based on information gathered from individuals during the ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.
The suspect also provided a confidential statement before the court.
The Additional Magistrate ordered the suspect to be remanded until instructions from the Attorney General are obtained.
