The Human Rights Commission has decided to investigate a petition submitted that the lack of medicine in the country and the increase in the price of medicine is a violation of the human rights of the people.

The commission said that a notice has been issued to the Ministry of Health for the related versions.

The petition was filed by the Physicians Union Alliance for Medical and Civil Rights

The Secretary of Health, the Director General of Health Services and the Drug Regulatory Authority have been named as respondents in the relevant petition.

Meanwhile, Mr. Upul Rohana, President of the Public Health Inspectors’ Association, stated in a press conference held in Colombo that the country’s public health service is continuously collapsing.
