Auditor-General W.P.C Wickramaratne says. that many government agencies’ financial statements have not been handed over on time.
He noted that government agencies must submit their financial statements for audit by February 28 every year.
The financial statements should be submitted by the secretaries in charge of the relevant public institutions and ministries, and the Auditor General points out that some public institutions are working to submit the financial statements of 5 years at once.
The Auditor General also stated that he cannot accept those reports as it is not a correct process.
He further said that due to the delay in the delivery of the financial statements, the International Monetary Fund may also hinder the fulfillment of the conditions imposed in the granting of loans to Sri Lanka.
