In connection with the alleged importation of substandard human immunoglobulin injections, Six people including the owner of the company, the director of the medical supplies department of the Ministry of Health and the former secretary of the Ministry of Health Mr. Janaka Shri Chandragupta have been remanded.
But several parties, including the health professional societies, accused and said that the former health minister Mr. Keheliya Rambukwella was also responsible for this fraud, so he should be arrested.
In such a background, a group of Criminal Investigation Department officers visited the official residence of Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at Wijerama Mawatha yesterday (26) and recorded a statement from him.
The minister’s lawyer Mr. Manoj Gamage also expressed his views to the media.
However, the unions point out that it is unethical for Mr. Manoj Gamage, a member of the board of directors of the Drug Regulatory Authority, to appear as the lawyer of the former health minister.
