The water levels in the Nilwala-Ging rivers are rising rapidly due to the rain that fell last night! Many villages are under water! Sri Lanka Latest News

The director of the Hydrology and Disaster Management Division of the Irrigation Department, Engineer S.P.C.Sugishwara said that the water levels in the Nilwala Ganga and Ginganga are rising rapidly due to the rain since last night (11).Sri Lanka Latest News

Due to that, the floods in Akurassa, Malimbada, Thihagoda, Kamburupitiya and Matara divisional secretariat divisions belonging to the Nilwala river basin in Matara district may rise again.

Meanwhile, the flood level in the lower areas of Bope Poddala, Nagoda and Baddegama divisional secretariats belonging to Ginganga lower basin in Galle district may increase slightly.

Due to that, the people downriver should be very careful, the director added.
