A special meeting between the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Mrs. Julie Chang and the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa took place today (19) at the opposition leader’s office in Colombo.
Special attention was paid to many issues that are important for both sides and the current crisis in the country was also discussed . The opposition leader recalled the long-standing relationship between the two countries and requested USA to extend its hand of friendship and support to the development of Sri Lanka.
The ambassador stated that the support of the United States is available for a country where democracy is strengthened and human rights are secured.
