This petition today Summoned before the Appellate Court bench consisting of Mr. Samarakoon and Mr. Neil Iddawela.
Judge Neil Iddawela, a member of the bench, said that he would withdraw from the hearing of this petition.
Accordingly, the relevant petition was forwarded to the President of the Court of Appeal, Mr. Justice Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne, to name a new panel of judges for the hearing of the petition.
Three judges have withdrawn from this trial so far.
Then this petition was called before the President of the Court of Appeal Mr. Justice Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne to name a new bench.
Accordingly, the Appellate Court President stated that the relevant petition will be considered before the new Appellate Court bench consisting of Messrs. Sobitha Rajakaruna and D.N Samarakoon.
In the meantime, the Court of Appeal ruled not to extend the injunction imposed by the interim committee, as per the pledge given by the sports minister that no further action will be taken until next Monday regarding the gazette notice issued appointing an interim control committee for the Sri Lanka Cricket Association.
Appeal Court Judge Sobitha Rajakaruna summoned the petition filed by Sri Lanka Cricket Board President Mr. Shammi Silva today.
President’s counsel Romesh de Silva, who appeared for the petitioner, said that the interim order imposed yesterday to prevent the activities of the interim cricket committee will end today.
Mr. Uditha Igalahewa, the President’s counsel who appeared for the Minister of Sports, claims that he will object to the further extension of the interim order. However, he gave a pledge to the court that he will not take further action regarding the gazette notification issued regarding the Cricket Interim Committee until this petition is considered next Monday. .
Accordingly, consideration of the petition was adjourned until next Monday (20).
