A team of 75 police officers including the Police Special Task Force has launched a special operation in Narahenpita area today (23rd) afternoon.

The operation was launched in the vicinity of the Motor Transport Commissioner’s office in Narahenpita, where 22 people were arrested on suspicion.

The police say that among them is a suspect accused of sexual assault, who is being sought by the Borella police.

Police Media Spokesman, Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Mr. Nihal Talduwa stated that the suspects were arrested for various frauds and drug-related offences.

The Police Media Spokesperson also mentioned that among the suspects were drug addicts, people in possession of fake documents, and fake justices of the peace.

He also said that the suspects had the rubber seals of senior officials and directors of some private institutions.

Even printed documents of government institutions were found in the possession of the arrested suspects.

The police media spokesperson added that all the suspects are to be produced in court.

The Police Media Spokesman informs the public not to seek help from such fraudsters who are waiting on the road, and get the necessary advice from the responsible government officials without falling for the scams.
