The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka hosted its 67th Annual General Meeting at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo, on 10th February 2026, gathering distinguished representatives from the business community, government, and diplomatic missions to explore collaborative strategies for economic growth and the development of the MSME sector in Sri Lanka.

Under the compelling theme “Mapping Connections Creating Opportunities,” the event underscored the Chamber’s unwavering commitment to fostering strategic partnerships and creating pathways for sustainable economic development in Sri Lanka.

His Excellency (Dr.) Semih Lütfü Turgut, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, served as the Chief Guest and delivered an engaging address on how nations can leverage their unique strengths for economic success. Using examples from Singapore, Switzerland, and New Zealand, the Ambassador highlighted that small nations can “punch above their weight” by focusing on sectors where they hold comparative advantages.

“Sri Lanka, with its strategic location in the Indian Ocean, rich cultural heritage, and dynamic entrepreneurial spirit, is exceptionally well-placed to chart its own path to economic success,” Ambassador Turgut emphasized, noting that innovation serves as a key multiplier for amplifying national strengths.

Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Export Development Board, attended as the Guest of Honour, sharing valuable insights on export promotion strategies and the historic transformation of Sri Lanka from a raw material supplier to a global powerhouse of value-added excellence. He highlighted the country’s emergence as a premier destination for high-end talent in AI-enabled services, cybersecurity, and fintech solutions. Mr. Wijesinghe further emphasized that the National Export Development Plan focuses on enhancing trade competitiveness, expanding global and regional market linkages, and promoting sustainable economic growth through product and market diversification.

The 67th AGM provided a vital platform for members to review the Chamber’s achievements over the past year, discuss strategic priorities, and explore new avenues for business collaboration. The event featured engaging discussions on emerging market trends, investment opportunities, and the evolving landscape of international trade.

The Chamber extends its sincere gratitude to Hayleys Mobility Limited, the Main Sponsor of the event, whose generous support made this gathering possible and reinforced the spirit of public-private partnership that drives Sri Lanka’s economic progress.

As the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka looks ahead, it remains steadfast in its mission to be the voice of business, advocate for progressive policy reforms, and create meaningful connections that translate into tangible opportunities for its members and the broader business community.
