Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the opposition leader, made a special revelation in the Parliament on Friday about a large-scale Karunka smuggling operation under the guise of re-exporting through the port.
The opposition leader pointed out that there are already 39 containers of Karunka in the port, which are prepared for illegal re-export without adding value.
The opposition leader questioned the government as to who are the owners of these, from which country they were imported, to which country they are being re-exported, and from what basis the relevant certificates were obtained.
