The Sri Lanka Bar Association says that Mr. Premanath C. Dolawatta and Mr. Shehan Semasinghe’s privilege issues in Parliament have an impact on the independence of the judiciary.
In a statement, the Sri Lanka Bar Association said that its association is committed to the independence of the judiciary and will take necessary steps to protect democracy, the rule of law and the constitution.
The announcement issued by the Sri Lanka Bar Association states that the independence of the judiciary is a heritage of the people of Sri Lanka and that an independent judiciary is essential to ensure justice between the citizen and the state and between the citizens.
