The government reduced electricity charges commencing July 1st, by 14.2%, after they had nearly tripled I Sri Lanka Latest News

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka said today (30) that according to the government’s revision of electricity tariffs on July 1 every year, it has been decided to reduce the electricity tariff by 14.2 percent from tomorrow (1). Sri Lanka Latest News

Accordingly, the commission states that the fee in the category between 0 and 30 units in the domestic sector has been reduced by 65 percent and the monthly fixed fee has been reduced from 400 to 150 rupees by reducing an electricity unit in that category from 30 rupees to 10 rupees.

The fee for the category between 31 and 60 units has been reduced by 51.5 percent, the unit price has been reduced from 42 to 32 rupees and the monthly fixed charges have been reduced from 650 to 300 rupees. Also mentioned.

It was also said that the unit price of 91 and 120 units will be reduced from 42 rupees to 35 rupees and the monthly fixed fee will be reduced from 1500 to 1000 rupees.

The commission said that the tariff of religious places has been reduced by 16 percent and also mentioned that religious places with low consumption will get 10 rupees per unit of electricity.

The Public Utilities Commission further stated that the tariffs were reduced by 26.3 percent for the hotel sector, 9 percent for the industrial sector, 5 percent for commercial buildings and 1 percent for government buildings.

The Public Utilities Commission today (30) afternoon to take the final decision on the electricity tariff revision, its chairman Professor M. it. R. M. Met under the patronage of Mr. Fernando.
