The Finance Committee has approved Government’s domestic debt restructuring proposal.

After the meeting of the said committee chaired by Dr. Harsha de Silva MP, a poll was held in the Parliament Complex this afternoon and only 5 votes against the proposal were received.

MA Councilors Sumanthiran, Nalaka Godaheva, Chandima Veerakkodi, Vijitha Herath and Harshana Rajakaruna have voted against it.

Mr. Rauf Hakeem abstained from voting and Mr. Champika Ranawaka was out of the committee at the time of polling.

Mr. Kavinda Jayawardena, who participated in the finance committee as the opposition representative yesterday, did not participate in today’s finance committee meeting and Mr. Mayantha Dissanayake was not present on both days.

After the approval of the finance committee, the debt restructuring proposal is to be presented to the special parliamentary meeting to be held tomorrow (01).
