The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (04) ordered that the government expert report submitted in the investigations related to the death of businessman Dinesh Shafter be forwarded to the five-member expert medical committee appointed to find the cause of the death.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya issued this order to the registrar of the court after considering a request made by President’s counsel Anuja Premaratne who advocated for the rights of the deceased when the inquest was called today. President’s lawyer Anuja Premaratne stated before the court that a government expert report has been submitted on the injuries caused by the tie with which the deceased’s hands were tied.

The President’s counsel requested the court to refer the report to the five-member medical committee for investigation.

Accordingly, the Additional Magistrate who issued the relevant order ordered that this investigation be called again on the 24th.

The Magistrate has appointed a five-member committee consisting of forensic and medical experts to determine the cause of death of businessman Dinesh Shafter.

The Criminal Investigation Department reported to the court that the committee is currently investigating.
