Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development Mr. Jeevana Thondaman mentions that the water charges will have to be increased reluctantly.
The minister says that electricity is used to purify water and since the electricity tariffs have been increased, the water tariffs should also be increased at the same time.
He also points out that there is no other option but to increase the water charges at the moment.
