A tragic news has been reported that a mother of three who went to pluck jackfruit to feed her children fell to her death from a tree.

A 50-year-old mother of four named Shanti Kumari of Bopavita Gedera, a resident of Bandarawatta, Narangvita, Gampola, has died.

She has four daughters and three of them are of school age.

It was also revealed that her husband works as a laborer in a private company and the deceased has no job.

Since the little income earned by the husband is not enough for the maintenance of the family, they have been in a difficult situation in fulfilling the tasks of providing school children’s equipment, providing food, and taking medicine.

This mother has found a jackfruit in a nearby tree her children were starving for nearly 10 days. She has been trying to prepare their afternoon meal plucking the jack fruit.

Failing to pluck it without climbing the tree finally she decided to climb the nutmeg tree near the jackfruit tree and tried to break this nut.

Although all efforts were unsuccessful, she thought of the children’s hunger and climbed the tree to break the jackfruit.

She was treated in the hospital for five days and passed away.
