Due to the severe drought that has affected the Northern Province, many small lakes in the Northern Province have collapsed, and thousands of fish in the lakes have died as a result, according to local residents. (Sri Lanka Latest News)

These days, thousands of fishes have died in the Mankulam lake in Mullaitivu.

Due to the drought that has affected the Northern Province, the farmers are helpless as they are unable to get water for their crops, and some have abandoned their crops.

Due to the current hot conditions, the limited amount of water in the lakes is heating up and the fish are dying in large numbers.

Local residents say that the water capacity of Mankulam lake was 14 feet, but now the lake has dried up to the bottom.
