The deceased is Sudath Kumara Herath (36), a father of three girls, residing at No. 32, Ellumgasaya, Dutuwewa, Galenbidunuewa, Karunanayake Mudianselage.
At the time of his death, he was working at the Nuwara Eliya camp of 03 Sinha Regiment and it is reported that he died in the line of duty 15 days after he was transferred to a camp in Vaviniya area as a training instructor.
