The Colombo Magistrate’s Court announced  the cause of death of businessman Dinesh Shafter will be announced tomorrow  I Sri Lanka Latest News

The Colombo Magistrate’s Court announced today (31) that the cause of death of businessman Dinesh Shafter will be announced tomorrow (01).Sri Lanka Latest News This is after the five-person expert medical committee appointed by the court to find the cause of Mr. Shafter’s death handed over its report to the court today. Colombo Additional Magistrate Mrs. Rajindra Jayasuriya, who accepted the sealed report, then announced that the cause of death of Mr. Shafter will be announced tomorrow.

On behalf of the relatives of the deceased, they submitted a motion to the court and requested the court to allow their lawyers to present the matter after receiving the expert report.

The Additional Magistrate, who rejected the request, stated that in the post-mortem, only the foul cause of the death of a person is discovered.

The Additional Magistrate stated that there is no provision in the law that external parties can testify in such an investigation and accordingly rejected the request.

Accordingly, the Additional Magistrate ordered to take necessary steps to hand over the dead body of Mr. Shafter, who is currently detained at Karapitiya Hospital, to his relatives and also ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to take steps to provide the necessary facilities to bury the dead body at Jawatta Cemetery.

The Additional Magistrate, who expressed her gratitude to the expert medical committee, also mentioned that she expressed her gratitude for supporting this investigation on the basis of court orders in the midst of university duties.
