Sagara Kariyawasam said this in a news conference at the party headquarters yesterday (30).
He mentioned that during the struggle, he chose the leader who could protect the country’s legal supremacy and free the country from anarchy, and choosing the right leader at that time was the right decision taken by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
Mr. Kariyawasam said that the party did not protest when Mr Ranil Wickramasinghe appointed cabinet ministers to those who had opposed the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna. He said that he made a great commitment to the country’s democracy at that time.
He said that no matter what anyone does, Mr. Ranil Wickramasinghe was appointed to the post of President by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and he thinks that the President remembers that.
However, the MP said the problems can be solved by discussing them with the President.
The secretary said that Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa created the golden age of this country and said that the people of the village are still with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna.
Mr Sagara Kariyawasam added that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna is not a party that ran away from the polls.
