Tech Giants Sever Ties with Sri Lankan Authorities Following Passage of Online Security Act: TRC’s FB account already crashed!

In a significant development, major tech companies, including Facebook, YouTube, and Google, have officially notified the Sri Lankan government of their decision to terminate their relationships with the Computer Institute of Sri Lanka and the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission. Notably, the Facebook link of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission has already been deactivated.

The companies communicated to the government that, in the wake of the recently passed online security act submitted to the parliament, there is no longer a necessity for their official engagements with the aforementioned institutions. This move comes after the tech giants expressed their opposition to the government bill on two separate occasions, highlighting their concerns about its implications.
