The Tamil National Alliance says that the talks with the President ended without any progress.

MA Sumanthiran, a member of that alliance, said that the government has not yet taken action to solve the problems of the Tamil people presented by his party.

“During the discussion with the government, we already discussed some of the problems facing our people.” One is about the disappeared, the other is about political prisoners and the act of freeing land. Different procedures were discussed for these three. But the situation that existed yesterday is the same today.

There is no progress. And now we have reminded that these things can be done to fulfill the separation of powers in the Constitution. We informed. They have not been given a proper answer yet. Therefore, he said that he will inform us about this within a week. We have decided that we will meet again if given a week’s notice. Earlier we decided to meet for 4 days. Due to this situation, we will not meet the day after tomorrow.”
