A special press release was issued by the UNP party headquarters, Sirikotha, a few hours after UNP General Secretary Range Bandara announced that the UNP would form an alliance with Pohottuwa yesterday morning.
The announcement said that the talks regarding the alliance are not over yet.
It is also reported that many members of the UNP local council have pointed out that a division has emerged within the party through this.
