Is there an ominous force behind it?
Why take so much risk?
A Sri Lankan named Senadhirage Karunaratne boarded SriLankan Airlines Flight 182 from Kathmandu to Colombo at 12:50 pm on the 13th at Kathmandu International Airport. No one paid special attention to this dry-eyed man who showed no signs of worry. He was sitting in seat 198 of the plane and was coming with deep thought. (Sri Lanka Latest News)
The journey from Kathmandu to Colombo is particularly attractive to passengers. The plane flies over the Himalayas for a long time. But it seemed that this person did not have the need to see that wonder. He arrived at Katunayake International Airport.
But before leaving the airport, airport immigration officials arrested Senadhirage Karunaratne. It is based on reliable intelligence. A major criminal in this country who is still involved in crimes, murders, extortions and drug sales had arrived in this way. He is Sanjeeva of Ganemulla or Sanjeeva of Makilangamu.
The news of Sanjeeva being arrested by the police in Katunayake was unbelievable. A few days ago, the Sri Lankan media reported with great pomp that Ganemule Sanjeeva and his close friend Gota Asanka, along with another underworld leader, were arrested near the Nepal-India border. The most excited by the news were the leaders of the opposing underworld gangs.
In the early hours of August 25, an unknown group on two motorcycles fired at Sanjeeva’s Makilangamuwa house. Police said no one was injured in the home. A group of relatives including Sanjeeva’s wife and daughter were staying at the house at the time of the shooting. The shooting was done with a T-56-type firearm and a pistol. It is in this background that Sanjeeva, who said that he was arrested, was arrested at Katunayake International Airport.
Even now, Sanjeeva is being detained and interrogated. Some serious issues have come out regarding the Sri Lankan flight permit he came to this country with. It has been issued on 01.10.2022. Anyone has gone to India on August 30 using this permit. Then that person came to Kathmandu from India on September 4th. The special thing is that he has apparently left Kathmandu on September 7th.
Makandure Madush as well as Kosgoda Sujeeda used LTTE members. Their chief mercenary was Bumma, a criminal linked to the LTTE. Now Madush is gone. Suji left the country. Since then, the LTTE ‘Makilangamuwe Sanjeeva’ aka ‘Ganemulle Sanjeeva’ is the only underworld gang leader who has worked with former powerful members of the terrorist organization. It was not us who said that, but the intelligence sector of this country
Sanjeeva Samaratne aka Ganemulle Sanjeeva aka Makilangamuwe Sanjeeva is a person who has passed the General Certificate of Education A Level examination with top grades. But Sanjeeva said goodbye to education and chose the underworld.
Sanjeeva’s childhood was spent in Veyangoda area before his first entry into the underworld. In those days, Sanjeeva, who had a gym near Bogaha in Naiwala Junction and stayed there, robbed a biscuit van near Marapola Junction along with eight youths who came to the same gym. He was imprisoned for the first time for that crime.
Ganemulle Sanjeeva, who comes out with knowledge after his first prison term, is established as a brother of the underworld in the year 2009. At that time, Sanjeeva comes to the scene by carrying out the biggest bank robbery in the country. Then he entered the Gampaha soil smuggling business. ‘Pas Sellam’ starts with ‘Pas Podda’ Ganemulle Sanjeeva, who was a famous character in the Gampaha pas underworld, killing ‘Heenatiyana Asitha’. Another strong member of their gang was Ajith Kumar aka Kalu Ajit aka ‘Aja’.
For a time, Ganemulla Sanjeeva’s best shooter was ‘Aja’. Kalu Ajith, who is good at chasing shots, was selected by Ganemule Sanjeeva as the best shooter to achieve his goals, working from outside as well as inside. At no point did Sanjeeva fail to pay Ajith’s target-achieving fee. But Ajith’s goal went wrong due to the contract given by Sanjeeva to kill Gampaha Osman.
From the day Osman’s goal was lost to Kalu Ajith, Ajith and Sanjeeva had a conflict. Ajith did not get the promised money due to the wrongful act. Kalu Ajith, who was very angry, had demanded ransom from Suresh, who was a friend of Pas Podda. This conflict led to several deaths. Then Sanjeeva killed Kalu Ajith. It was through a person named Hinatayana Sankha.
Chaminda Ravi Jayanath alias ‘Dematagoda Chaminda’ was accused of shooting at the third accused in the Bharata Laxman murder case inside the prison bus.
Dematagoda Chaminda, who was in prison, was brought to the court in Aluthkade court and when he was being taken back to the prison, two motorcyclists who stopped the prison bus at Dematagoda Ingam Junction shot Chaminda and fled. The Colombo Crime Division had arrested these 12 suspects on several occasions.
On January 1, 2020, a person who was walking on the road with a bag on his shoulder in a suspicious manner was checked by the Puliyankulama police. This man, who is scared by the questioning of the police officers, leaves the bag he had and runs away. After opening the bag, the police found that this fugitive was LTTE. A former strong leader of the organization is ‘Ananda Raza’.
The police also found a lot of gear in Ananda Raza’s bag including a ready-to-fire micro pistol, 18 live bullets, a magazine, 4 live grenades, 1 solar powered power bank, a modern Apple mobile phone and a Samsung mobile phone.
After that, the intelligence agencies came into action. Accordingly, the police arrested six suspects along with a stock of military equipment near the railway line on the way to the Muthur temple on the A9 road. The suspects were Meiyamuthu Rasa Sudaharan alias ‘Guna’, Srikanthan Darshani alias ‘Ponnambalam’, Ganesh Murthy Sidhut alias ‘Sidu’, Poobalasingam Suriyabalan alias ‘Sadan’, Thalaisingam Kandruban alias ‘Kartika’ and Umaganeshan Dayanidhi. On January 2, 2020, the police arrested eight more suspects in connection with the incident during the interrogation of these suspects.
Rasalingam Sivaraj aka ‘Veera’ aka ‘Kadal Veeran’, Kalyana Kumar Shashikumar, Manujaya Pramod, Kavinda Pathirana, Malan Dozer Wijayasiriwardena, Indrajith Rangana Karunanayake, Himal Harshana, Pradeep Deshapriya and Annesley Prabhagar Francis Xavier Johnson Dudley aka ‘Vendran’ aka ‘Dad’ , Wasantha Jude Niroshan, Vijayan Salan Kumar aka ‘Salad’ and Ghanpati Kadiravelu aka ‘Sami’ are the suspects.
Vendran alias Appa was one of the two or three terrorists who saved their lives in the attack on the Anuradhapura Air Force base on October 22, 2007. And he was a person who hid without surrendering to the army after the end of the war. The Army called him ‘Appa’ and the Navy called him ‘Neranjan’. The security forces had uncovered information that this person was also engaged in a scheme to smuggle illegal immigrants to Australia. While Appa was in prison for these incidents, he got the opportunity to make friends with the underworld in the south and he got the company of Ganemulla Sanjeeva.
The Colombo Crime Division had revealed the facts that two pistol-type firearms belonging to ‘Ananda Rasa’ had been brought to Colombo by ‘Appa’ and sold to the underworld for money.
‘Veera’ aka ‘Kadal Veeran’ and Amila Nuvan aka ‘Gota Asanka’ of Eatanawatta Arachchi came on a motorcycle and shot and killed Suranga Kumara aka ‘Rattarang’ at Angoda Kalanimulela with a pistol that Appa had sold to Colombo. That was on January 5, 2017.
‘Rattarang’ was from Angoda Lokka’s side, while ‘Gotha Asanka’ and ‘Ganemulle Sanjeeva’ were from Ranale Samayang’s side.
An underworld attack was planned to take revenge on Samyang who killed his colleagues including Rattaran. That was on February 27, 2017. On that day, Samayang was killed in a prison bus in Ethanmadala area of Kalutara. It is the work of Angoda Lokka. He had support from Madush.
Angoda Lokka, who was the main respondent in the murder case, fled the country. Amila Nuwan alias Gota Asanka, Udesika Viduranga of Katugampalala and Sanjeeva Samararatne alias Sanjeeva of Ganemulla were arrested at the Colombo Crime Division. Along with two micro-type firearms.
Ganemulla Sanjeeva ex-LTTE. He was leading seven members. LTTE was kept in a safe house in Eluvapitiya area of Wayangoda. He maintained 03 members. Later this group was arrested by the police.
According to the investigations done in the past period, LTTE. Ganemulla Sanjeeva’s gang has 10 pistols and 10 T56 firearms of the organization. Sanjeeva’s closest underworld thugs are scattered all over the place. Gotha Asanka has escaped to India. Five children were killed. A number of murders took place in Kehelbaddara Hinatayana areas in recent years to avenge the murder of Pas Podda. A helpless young man also died in Kehelbaddara when Sanjeeva missed his targets.
Meanwhile, last August 21, citing Indian information, Sri Lankan media reported that four of the country’s top underworld leaders and drug traffickers have been arrested by the International Police in India, Nepal and Dubai, and Ganemulla Sanjeeva is among them. At the same time, in the early morning of August 25, his house was attacked with a pistol and a T56 firearm.
His sister had complained that groups claiming to be the police barged into the house and harassed her unnecessarily. She had stated that at one point they had also looted the items from the house. Taking a risk that no criminal would take, Sanjeeva re-entered the country and was arrested in this background.
The responsibility of solving many problems that need to be solved has now been assigned to the investigation departments. What is the reason for Sanjeeva’s arrival? Why is he taking such a risk? Is there a force behind him that manipulates him? If so, what is that force? Even if the answers to these questions are found, many times they are not revealed to the country and may be buried along with the crime and the criminal. That’s how it is in Sri Lanka.
