The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena today (15) that the case filed against 28 suspects, including Parliamentarian Jagath Manuwarna, in connection with an incident involving the alleged defrauding of Rs. 2.5 million from a private bank by submitting false documents has been referred for the Attorney General’s advice.
The CID submitted a further report to the court regarding the incident, and the investigating officer informed the court of the latest developments.
The CID further informed the court that the handwriting of the individuals who signed the bank documents related to the incident had been examined.
The suspects appeared before the court today in connection with the incident. However, warrants were issued for the 13th and 17th suspects, who failed to appear in court.
The CID informed the court that the case has now been referred for the Attorney General’s advice.
The case is scheduled to be recalled on December 9.
