Police Headquarters sources have confirmed that the Director of the Police Narcotics Bureau, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hemal Prashantha, has been transferred in connection with an ongoing investigation against him.

According to reports, the allegations against SSP Prashantha include the misappropriation of Rs. 5 million allocated for informants, administrative shortcomings, and failure to conduct drug raids effectively during a three-month period.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has already launched an inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of Rs. 5 million.

Following the development, the Police Commission was informed on September 25 regarding the necessity of his transfer. Consequently, the official transfer order was received yesterday (15), and the officer was transferred accordingly, Police Headquarters sources further stated.

Meanwhile, the Police Headquarters clarified that reports circulating on social media concerning the transfer of SSP Hemal Prashantha are entirely false.
