Police Respond to Group Clash in Vadukkodai; Motorcycle Set on Fire
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The 119 Police Emergency Unit received a report yesterday afternoon (20) concerning a violent altercation between two groups in Vadukkodai, Jaffna.

Upon receiving the call, police officers were dispatched to the scene. However, before their arrival, one group had reportedly set fire to a motorcycle belonging to the opposing party.

As the police reached the area, they were met with hostility, including stone-throwing directed at them. In response, law enforcement officers discharged warning shots into the air in an effort to bring the situation under control.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two groups, which had been simmering for some time and flared up once again on this occasion.

Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the clash. Further investigations are underway.
