Sri Lanka Launches Forensic Audit into VFS Global Deal Irregularities: Minister
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Sri Lanka has initiated a forensic audit to investigate irregularities linked to the VFS Global agreement, according to Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath, who also oversees Public Security and the Department of Immigration.

“Any irregularities uncovered will lead to legal action,” Minister Vijitha Herath stated.

The Minister also noted that the business and investment sectors would now benefit from improved access to visa facilities.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court ordered the arrest of Immigration Controller General I.H. Illukpitiya for failing to reinstate the previous Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, which was widely regarded as one of the world’s most user-friendly visa application systems.

The current VFS Global system, which features high fees and undisclosed charges, has faced criticism, particularly from older travelers who found it difficult to navigate.

VFS Global operates online visa processing for several developed nations, primarily to screen visitors from developing countries.
