The United Nations Human Rights Council says that Sri Lanka has reached a very serious juncture politically.

It states that it is important to identify the factors that led to the current economic crisis and take necessary measures to combat economic crimes and corruption.

A report issued by them indicates that Sri Lanka should urgently go for accountability reforms and institutional and security sector reforms.

The United Nations Human Rights Council has released this report today regarding human rights in Sri Lanka.

It states that the new government in this country should immediately start a national discourse on the implementation of human rights and reconciliation.

It also says that accountability should be done along with reforms in several areas.

With the current economic crisis, Sri Lanka has now reached a critical juncture politically.

And the report has shown that it can be used as an opportunity to take Sri Lanka to a new path.

Also, the related report further states that the reliance on harsh security laws and suppression of peaceful protests should be ended immediately and steps should be taken to reform the security forces.
